Leather Sofa

If you were to take a look at some films from the olden days when portrayed well off folk inside their living rooms, you will see the sofas they had were always made of leather. Back when class divisions and so-forth were a major factor of life and almost insurmountable, you simply had to purchase what you could afford, and the richest people would always purchase the highest quality items or furniture, and one such item was always the leather sofa.

Not only do leather sofas look classy, but there are many, many advantages to having a leather sofa above another material such as nylon. A sofa made of a material such as nylon may look good to begin with, but in a short period of time you will see it discolour, fade, stain, start to look grubby and pulled. With a sofa made of good quality leather this doesn’t happen. A good quality leather sofa will not crack and will not go threadbare. You can compare a good quality leather sofa with a good quality leather jacket; they stay looking good long after they should and can last 20, 30+ years or a lot longer.

Generally, dark coloured leather sofas are the best to go for. Should you be unfortunate enough to spill the dreaded red wine or tomato sauce on a nylon sofa, even if you can move like superman to retrieve the washcloth, chances are the stain will still remain and be noticeable. With a leather sofa which has a good polished coat, spills tend not to soak in, so can be wiped clear before any damage is done. Also animals such as dogs and cats which tend to enjoy scratching at the surface of soft nylon materials generally don’t act this way towards leather, and the hairs they shed are also easier to clean up. All in all, there is much to be said for choosing a sofa made of leather.
